I am so sorry. So, so sorry. I was not expecting this semester to start with such a bang - I have a feeling I’m going to be running the entire semester to keep from going under in stress. I am taking cellular & molecular biology (the professor promised that 1/3 the class would fail), chemistry (which I’m retaking and still struggling in), and urban ecology (I just had to read and interpret 7 scientific journal articles - goddamn). Plus climatology but the professor promised he was going to be really lenient with the grades lol.

I’m going to be honest and say that I have no idea how often I’m going to be RPing until I get a break. I already miss it but I know that I can’t keep up with it and everything else going on with my life. I’m already going to be giving up a day out of the week for riding lessons (assuming buying a horse falls through), so yeah. Plus my mom will be starting radiation treatments soon and I’m gonna have to help her a lot. And I’m starting my own research project soon in lab.

I can’t reply to anything tonight and probably not this weekend either - I need to catch up with some homework. Talk to you guys later, I promise I’ll be on as soon as I am able. :-(

The waiter came over and poured their wine as Darcy laid her napkin out on her lap neatly. “Well… my hobbies include reading, television, movies, video games, parties, and I am deeply interested in Norse mythology after an incident with lightning.” She picked up her wine and sipped it delicately, minding her manners in front of Loren. “I find the stories really interesting, especially Loki, he sounds like an a case a psychiatrist would LOVE to sink their teeth in to.”

She realized how nerdy she probably sounded but after a few more sips of wine she was speaking a little more freely. “I work a lot unfortunately, but a girl has to make a living and I’m just glad I didn’t have to turn to stripping… thank you Jane Foster.”

“Forgive me for asking, but you still work with Jane Foster? I was under the assumption that your acquaintance with her was limited to your internship.”

He twisted the wine glass stem between his thumb and forefinger, watching the dark wine slosh around. He added, “And yes, I am familiar with some of the texts involving Loki. Quite different from the lunatic that leveled the city, don’t you think?”

Loki and the Doctor

The Doctor was slightly taken by surprise by this. “Well… don’t see why not…” the wondered what sort of story he could tell to entertain Loki… He’d certainly had a lot of stories, though not all of them quiet so happy as he would like.

“Long time ago, I was traveling.” He began, resting his hands together, “And… I happened to follow these creatures on Earth. I was a different man, then. These creatures were made of plastic, and were controlled by a substance known as the living plastic. Well, this creature wanted to destroy humanity so I knew I had to do something. I was following these creatures on Earth and they lead me to this shop. Nothing important. No one was there. Except for one person.” The Doctor paused a moment, thinking.

“Her name was Rose Tyler. That was the first time I met her. She helped me find the living plastic and put an end to it before it took over the Earth. In the end, I almost went off without her. I almost left her behind. But… there was something special about her. So I went back and took Rose with me. She was the greatest thing to happen to me.” He sat in silence, knowing his story was not a good one, but the memories were.

The fondness that the Doctor clearly had for Rose was strangely unfamiliar to Loki. He’d seen that look on many people’s faces: Odin’s, Frigga’s, Lady Sif’s, Volstagg’s, and even Thor’s. But not Loki. Never Loki.

He then sighed, deciding to simply delve right into his tale. “Many centuries ago, when Thor and I were young, Odin Allfather allowed us to travel on our own small adventures. One time we visited Muspelheim, mostly to spite Odin and show him that we did not need safety. We ended up becoming lost,” Loki said with a shake of his head. “We went several days without food or water. While we can last a great deal longer than mortals, we still require some form of liquid sustenance to survive. When we finally found the bifrost site and Heimdall brought us home, we were deliriously happy. And thirsty. And scorched. So what was the first thing he did?” He shook his head and rolled his eyes, grimacing. “We dove into the bathing pools. In our haste we neglected to notice that we had entered the women’s bathing pools - and it was not empty. Needless to say, we got into some trouble that day.”
